Farbest Foods Inc. has announced its Academic Achievement Scholarship recipients. The value of each scholarship is $4,000, which is worth $1,000 per year for each student. The student must maintain a 3.0 grade point average or higher to receive continued funding.
Eligibility requirements of the scholarship are: 1) The applicant must be a citizen of the United States at the time of application. 2) The applicant must be a high school senior and have at least a 3.5 grade point average based on a 4.0 scale for the 10th and 11th grades. 3) Applicants must be pursuing a career in engineering, mathematics, physics, chemistry, or agriculture.
Scholarship recipients are Molly Lusk of Forest Park High School, Bennett Schmitt of Jasper High School, Addison Clauss of Jasper High School and Hannah Schwenk of Jasper High School.
Molly Lusk is the daughter of Kevin and Jennifer Lusk of Ferdinand. She has participated in Forest Park High School volleyball, tennis, basketball and Student Council. Molly has been active in the Beta Club, National Honor Society and Rangers for Christ. Some of her awards and honors include Indiana Academic All-Star Nominee and DAR Good Citizen Nominee. Molly has had several leadership roles as Student Body President, Beta Club President and National Honor Society President. Upon graduation, she plans to major in biochemistry at Indiana University.
Bennett Schmitt is the son of Daryl and Patricia Schmitt of Jasper. He has participated in tennis, diving, Student Council and SADD. While attending Jasper High School, Bennett has been Varsity Boys Tennis Team Captain, National Honor Society President, Student Council V.P. and JHS Riley Dance Marathon Committee Head and Co-President. He has also received several honors and awards including National Merit Finalist, 2021 Indiana Regional Academic All-Star and Boys Tennis Academic All-State. Bennett plans to attend University of Notre Dame and major in chemistry.
Addison Clauss is the daughter of Phillip and Jamie Clauss of Jasper. While attending Jasper High School, Addison has been active in Jasper girls soccer, unified track, Student Council, National Honor Society and Key Club. Some of her awards and honors include Girls Soccer – Varsity Letter, BPA National Qualifier and Unified Track Varsity Letter. Addison has also held leadership positions as President of Student Council, VP of Administration for BPA and Captain of the JHS Girls JV and Varisity Soccer Teams. After graduation she plans to major in chemical engineering at Purdue University.
Hannah Schwenk is the daughter of Mark and Karen Schwenk of Jasper. Some of her activities while attending Jasper High School include basketball, softball, volleyball, FFA and SADD. She has held leadership positions as FFA Vice President, 4-H Vice President and Basketball Captain. Some of Hannah’s awards and honors include Greenhand FFA Degree, Chapter FFA Degree and the Keith Gettlefinger Mental Attitude Award. Hannah plans to major in animal science at Illinois Central College to Purdue University.
