Fresh Mark’s Canton plant receives sustainability award

CANTON The city has recognized Fresh Mark’s plant on Harmont Avenue NE for “environmental stewardship.”

The city’s Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) selected the Canton plant out of 32 for its annual Quality Control Award, according to a news release. It is given to companies that have replaced hazardous substances with non-hazardous ones, reduced and reused waste, and implemented policies to control industrial waste.

Mayor Thomas Bernabei and WRF staff toured Fresh Mark’s waste water treatment facility earlier this week and presented the company with the award.

“We take great pride in our ability to be a strong steward of the environment in Canton and across all our locations,” Tim Cranor, president and COO at Fresh Mark, stated in the release.

Fresh Mark, which also has a plant in Massillon, has supplied Sugardale and Superior’s Brand Meats for nearly 100 years.
